As Senior Director of External Communications for McDonald’s USA, Molly McKenna Jandrain oversees the communications strategy to grow and drive McDonald’s business, while building and protecting its iconic brand. In this role she has held since 2019, McKenna is responsible for developing and leading all national, local and multicultural public relations and engagement efforts to reach audiences including the media, influencers and consumers with McDonald’s story, business and brand actions. McKenna is often on the front lines, helping to advise and manage critical brand matters and crisis situations.
In prior roles at McDonald’s, McKenna was responsible for developing communications strategies to build and support McDonald’s global system as well as U.S. business and national marketing efforts. This included driving communications initiatives such as new menu introductions for McDonald’s food and menu news, as well as global brand building campaigns and reputation management. McKenna also was a founding member of McDonald’s social media team and helped establish McDonald’s influencer engagement practice.
McKenna served as Global Communications Supervisor from 2002-2006, supporting public relations programming for McDonald’s international business in 100+ countries, and driving McDonald’s publicity efforts for sponsorships including the Olympic Games and World Cup Soccer. McKenna was a key player in the launch of McDonald’s i’m lovin’ it global campaign in 2003 and first-ever World Children’s Day fundraiser, an annual cause marketing event that raised funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. McKenna is the recipient of several prestigious industry and McDonald’s awards including leading the team who brought home the first ever PR-led Cannes Gold and Silver Lion in 2019.
McKenna Jandrain began her career at McDonald’s Corporation 19 years ago in 2001 following a successful internship. She is a graduate of Marquette University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication. She resides in the Chicago area with her husband and three children.
