Tori Cowley is Group Chief Communications Officer for Hong Kong & Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX), Asia’s largest stock market group. She is responsible for all aspects of external and internal communications, as well as CSR, events and the HKEX Foundation. Tori has held her role at HKEX since September 2018. She is a member of the HKEX management committee, and reports to the Group CEO, Charles Li.
Prior to this Tori was Group Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations at Mitie plc, the UK’s largest Facilities Management company, a distressed business in turnaround with 50,000 staff. Before this, Tori spent seven years as Group Head of Communications for London Stock Exchange Group where she was part of the executive team that oversaw 17 acquisitions, an 8-fold increase in the company’s share price and the creation of one of the most systemically important market infrastructure groups in the world. LSEG had operations in the UK, USA France, Italy and Sri Lanka. Tori was a trustee of both the Mitie plc and LSEG plc Foundations. Tori joined the LSE Group from Thomson Reuters where she was Head of Corporate Affairs, EMEA. Tori was part of the senior team that oversaw the merger between the US information business, Thomson, and UK data and news business, Reuters, where she was involved in the creation and subsequent dismantling of the dual-listed structure, and the rebranding and integration of the two business across the world. During this period, she split her time between London, New York and Toronto.
Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Tori spent a number of years as a director of two of the UK’s leading financial and corporate communications and IR consultancies, where she was responsible for both revenue generation and consultancy to companies in a wide range of sectors and geographies. Before this Tori worked as an investment banker – M&A advisory and broking, including several years with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, with a focus on sub-US1bn European business, across sector. Tori began her career at Price Waterhouse, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the financial services practice in London. Tori holds a BSc in Economics from Loughborough University and is a graduate of the Corporate Affairs Academy at Said Business School, University of Oxford.
Tori grow up in Malaysia and Hong Kong and is delighted to be back working in Asia. She is interested in current affairs, art, gardens and all things to do with food and cooking. She likes spending time with her young family and is attempting to learn Cantonese.
